warhol6661 Anyone who has fallen in love with the awesome music of Weird Owl needs to hear these tunes. Probably around a campfire while high but as it's winter I'm gonna settle for getting high and closing my eyes.

edit. I keep trying to pick my favourite and I just can't! I love all of these tracks.

Kirk Gauthier A unique collection of songs that led to the formation of Weird Owl. Stripped down and bare, they have a very unique mystical power that must be heard to be believed. Favorite track: Spirit Floats Like Light.

about

Home recordings made between 2001-2003, the years immediately prior to forming Weird Owl. I had checked out of the music scene in NYC to become a more dedicated mystic, recording these songs in seclusion in a very immediate fashion and with minimal fuss on an 8-track. Most songs recorded in Brooklyn and some in the mountains outside Santa Fe, NM, where I lived in a teepee briefly. I would pass these demos out on CD-R, with a few also posted online. These are largely apocryphal, but an important stage in Weird Owl's pre-history. This is some real outsider art trippiness.

Weird Owl New York, New York

Since releasing their debut album in 2007, Weird Owl have firmly cemented their place in the international psychedelic underground. Championed by none other than legendary Brian Jonestown Massacre frontman Anton Newcombe , Weird Owl’s music has been called “melodic, pleasant, head numbing” (All Music) and “exhilarating stuff, conjuring up images of some vast, cosmic desert” (Tiny Mix Tapes). ... more
